Humayma

Humayma: the Nabataeans' desert trading camp, later a Roman fort, near Wadi Rum.

Humayma, north of Wadi Rum, was the Nabataeans' desert station on the King's Highway — later a Roman fort — with a fort, bathhouse, cisterns and dwellings spread across a gravel plain.

It is covered by the Jordan Pass and wonderfully empty. Travellers who hire car & driver in Jordan stop between Petra and Aqaba, and full package tours to Jordan include it for archaeologists.
