The Fountain Court

The Fountain Court: a Christian-era ablutions fountain beside the Jerash cathedral.

The Fountain Court, between the cathedral and the Church of St. Mary, is a Byzantine-era canopied fountain fed by an ceramic pipeline — the ceremonial water stop for worshippers entering the church quarter.

Its canopy reconstruction shows the original form. Travellers who hire car & driver in Jordan rest here between churches, and full package tours to Jordan include it in the church quarter walk.
